The young tenor Mauro Peter is a native of Lucerne and has studied singing with Fenna Kügel-Seifried at the Hochschulefür Musik und Theater München [School of Music and Performing Arts Munich] since 2008. He attends the lieder classes of Helmut Deutsch.

At the beginning of his career, he performed, inter alia, at the Mozart Weeks in Bad Reichenhall, in various Mozart roles, such as Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte [The Magic Flute]).

Mauro Peter is a member of the Bayerische Theaterakademie [Bavarian Theatre Academy]. Since 2011, he has actively collaborated with the conductor Ulf Schirm and the Münchner Rundfunkorchester [Munich Radio Orchestra].

This young artist has already worked out his own extensive concert repertoire whichencompasses, inter alia, Bach’s Passions and the Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, and the Deutsche Motette [A German Motet]by Richard Strauss.

He debuted in May 2012 as a lieder singer with Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin” [“The Fair Miller Maid”] at the Schubertiade [Schubert Festival] in Hohenems, together with Helmut Deutsch, and repeated his triumphal successin Schwarzenberg in September 2012, when he filled in for the soprano Anja Harteros at short notice, again with Helmut Deutsch.

In June 2012, Mauro Peter was awarded the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Internationaler Robert-Schumann-Wettbewerb [International Robert Schumann Competition] in Zwickau. See

This was followed by concerts with Mozart’s La finta giardiniera (Belfiore) and the Bamberger Symphoniker [Bamberg Symphony Orchestra].

Mauro Peter took part in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburger Festspiele [Salzburg Festival] in 2012.

Future projects in 2012/2013 include lieder recitals in Bonn, at Schloss Elmau, Tokyo, Stuttgaqrt and again at the Schubertiade in Hohenems and Schwarzenberg.

In June 2013, he will sing Tamino at the Opéra National de Lyon for the first time.

As of the season 2013/14, he will join the ensemble of the Opernhaus Zürich [Zurich Opera House] where he will work together with Andreas Homoki, Willy Decker, Fabio Luisi, Ivor Bolton, Marc Albrecht, and others.

In summer 2013, he will again be a guest at the Salzburger Festspiele and perform together with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Gustavo Dudamel, and others.

In 2014, he will debut at the Konzerthaus Wien [Vienna Concert Hall], at the Wiener Musikverein [Viennese Music Association], and at the Theater an der Wien [Theatre on the Wien River], each time together with Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
