Schumannhaus Bonn, Sebastianstraße 182

Welcome address:
Dr Ingrid Bodsch, Project Director of the Schumann Network

On 6th June, two days before the 204th anniversary of Robert Schumann’s birth, within the scope of the Schumann Forum, the project management of the Schumann Network invited for a talk at about 1800 hrs with the young Italian pianist Ottavia Maria Maceratini, conducted by Dr Rainer Aschemeier, the operator, inter alia, of “The Listener”, the blog for classical music and related.

Ottavia Maria Maceratini has delighted the critics and the audience with her 2 CD releases so far. After the first CD, “One Cut”, released in 2011, had already included Schumann in the programme – with “Träumerei” [Dreaming] from “Kinderszenen” [Scenes from Childhood] and “Widmung” [Dedication] in the piano transcription by Franz Liszt – her second CD, “Untitled”, released in summer 2012, focused almost entirely on Schumann with his Piano Sonata No. 2 in G minor Op. 22, Etudes symphoniques Op. 13, and his “Faschingsschwank aus Wien” [Carnival Jest from Vienna] Op. 26, were framed only by “Birdsongs” – Rameau’s “Le rappel des oiseaux” and Ravel’s “Oiseaux tristes”.

On Saturday, 7th June 2014, at 2000 hrs, at the invitation of the Bonn Schumann Festival, Ottavia Maria Maceratini performed the birthday concert for Robert Schumann at the Schumann House, whose birthday in 2014 fell on Whitsunday.
